Minviro
Minviro's five year anniversary
Gina-Camilla Glasø
From our humble beginnings, with our founder Robert Pell pitching to clients and investors and slowly placing the first bricks of Minviro’s foundation to today's 40+ team across three continents, the past five years have been remarkable. In November, as we celebrate Minviro’s 5th anniversary, we look back at some of the milestones and stories that have defined us. We reflect on the challenges faced, triumphs celebrated, and, most importantly, the fantastic team that has been with us every step of the way.
The Humble Beginnings
Five years ago, armed with a clear purpose to measure and mitigate environmental impacts to ensure a sustainable energy transition and the drive to make a difference, Rob founded Minviro.
Milestones & Achievements
Year 1: 2019 The Launchpad
Rob traveled to 8 countries, talking to more than 120 companies. Our first consultancy projects rolled out, a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team, specifically the efforts of our founder and CEO Robert Pell and Laurens Tijsseling, the first consultant who enabled our early growth. Together, they secured our first major clients, setting the tone for our future. We also reached the next stage of Innovate UK's ICURe programme.
Year 2: 2020 Expanding Horizons
We expanded into new industries, from mining to batteries. We secured support from the EIT raw material booster and sustainable ventures. Our team grew, and we built some incredible partnerships, including with our dear friends Alex Grant and David Deak. Our company was ready for its next exciting stage.
Year 3: 2021 Embracing Innovation
We launched our first software, MineLCA (now known as Material LCA), the foundation of our technology offerings, led by Conor Hickey. We also won our first award, the Business Green Leader award, which we look back on with fond memories. Our team also grew from a handful to 12+ dedicated employees, and we landed our first project with Tesla, followed by many large companies in the mining and battery industries.
Year 4: 2022 Solidifying Our Foundation
Recognised as a leading force in life cycle assessment, we kept the innovation going, delving into the work on our Battery LCA software product. Our consultancy team continued to grow and deliver exceptional work driven by Phoebe Whattoff. Our R&D team and innovation expanded under Jordan Lindsay. We won our second award for collaboration with Maptek (on our Material LCA software) at Mines and Money’s “The Resourcing Tomorrow Outstanding Achievement Awards”. Our team had suddenly grown from 15 to 25 by the end of the year.
Year 5: 2023 International Growth
With a focus on sustainability and future-readiness, we raised $2.6 million in investment from industry leaders early in 2023. The investment enabled us to reach new markets and set up offices in Shanghai, China, and Perth, Australia. Our global team has grown to 40, and our industry coverage includes a range of sectors. We have worked on more than 200 commercial projects to date. Today, as we mark half a decade in business, we're more excited than ever about the future.
People: Our Greatest Asset
None of our achievements would have been possible without our exceptional team. From our trailblazing leaders to our dedicated analysts and researchers, every company member has played a pivotal role in our story.
We believe in nurturing talent, and our commitment to employee growth is unwavering. Whether through learning sessions, our quarterly kick-offs, or opportunities to attend international conferences, we strive to keep our team a step ahead.
A Look Ahead: Enabling an Even Greater Impact
While we're immensely proud of our journey, we believe the best is yet to come. With exciting projects in the pipeline and plans to venture into new territories, the future promises to be even more exhilarating.
As we mark this significant milestone, we thank every client, partner, and team member who has shared our journey. Here's to the past five glorious years and many, many more to come.
