Minviro’s Quarterly Kick-Off
Gina-Camilla Glasø
A new quarter is an excellent time to reflect, learn, and aspire for growth. At Minviro, we like to host an internal kick-off event that sets the stage for our next chapter. It’s an opportunity to build deeper connections across our teams, reestablish our goals, and kickstart the quarter with renewed enthusiasm.
What it is and why we do it
A new quarter is an excellent time to reflect, learn, and aspire for growth. At Minviro, we like to host an internal kick-off event that sets the stage for our next chapter. It’s an opportunity to build deeper connections across our teams, reestablish our goals, and kickstart the quarter with renewed enthusiasm.
Workshops and team work
The day began at Vox Arms, a brick-wall venue tucked beneath one of the train archways near Shoreditch High Street. With energizing coffee and snacks at our disposal, we delved into a presentation on the general business update led by our Founder & CEO, Robert Pell. The session provided valuable insights into our company’s recent performance and future direction.
A workshop on “living the brand” followed, led by Minviro’s Head of People, Nicola Wright McKenzie, and Head of Marketing and Communications, Gina Glasø. We discussed on-brand behavior and brand engagement, gaining new perspectives on how we can improve as a team and improve our products.
Adriana Merino Zamora from Minviro’s Culture Club, a group dedicated to fostering and promoting positive and inclusive company culture, organized a workshop highlighting the range of personality traits we have across our team, and the benefits and positivity of this diversity. We concluded the session with an “Ask Managers Anything” segment, hosted by R&D manager Jordan Lindsay, followed by celebrating expansion plans and actions for the upcoming months.
Experiences that bring us closer together
After the first part of the day, we embarked on an immersive experience at Alcotraz. Actors played specific roles, and we became part of a narrative reminiscent of popular TV series like Prison Break or Orange is the New Black. Engaging with the guards and interacting with the “warden” created an atmosphere of excitement, laughter, and even nervous anticipation. We captured memorable moments and enjoyed a range of drinks throughout the experience, savoring both sour and sweet flavors.
Following our escape, we gathered at Serata Hall, where pizza and drinks awaited us. It was an excellent opportunity to unwind, socialize, and connect with our teammates. Conversations flowed as people moved from one group to another, catching up and indulging in pizza. The relaxed setting provided an opportunity to forge stronger bonds and take a break from work-related thoughts.
Takeaways
The kick-off event left us with valuable insights and takeaways from all the departments. From ideas on how we can open more avenues for constructive feedback, to what items, activities or day-to-day actions makes us feel more connected to the brand.
As we look ahead to the new quarter, we are prepared to face challenges and equipped with knowledge and insights gained from the kick-off event.
Finally, we want to give a big thank you to Akilah Costley, our Events Coordinator, for arranging a seamless and successful quarterly kick-off.
